The Ruth
Project Reaches Out
The
Ruth Project has reached out to other areas in providing clothing,
toys, and food for families in Tennessee and New York. We
are honored to partner with organizations in those areas,
such as Prison Fellowship of New York and WINGS in Tennessee
to coordinate these efforts. This is the mission of The Ruth
Project: to walk with women in need in the greater Attleboro-Taunton
area. Volunteers at The Ruth Project assist women who have
faced issues of crime, homelessness, and unemployment, as
well as poverty, addiction, and abuse.

The program provides comprehensive services such as mentoring, job
skills development, and affordable housing plans, to allow women
in need to face and overcome the issues in front of them.
In Bristol County there are more than 30,000 women living below
the poverty level. Some 50,000 women have not received a high school
diploma. The average wait for affordable housing is 3 -7 years.
The Ruth Project opened its Resource Center in March 2007 to provide
direction, resources, and mentoring for women in need. Since opening,
volunteers have placed job listings in the hands of unemployed single
mothers and worked with women on developing sound job skills, including
developing resumes and interviewing techniques. We have made available
a directory of affordable housing and applications in the hands
of women who were forced to leave abusive situations and have walked
through the application process with women in need of affordable
housing. Our directory of housing resources continues to grow, ranging
from emergency shelters to rehabilitation programs, to transitional
housing, and affordable housing. Volunteers have assisted women
in returning back to school. We have worked together with area agencies
so that women and children have received clothing and food. Recovery
and restoration programs have helped women who struggle with addiction,
affliction or abuse.
